Harp Concert at St. Luke's

 

            An unusual concert featuring an internationally renowned harpist will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1101 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis, MD on April 27, 2008 at 3 pm.  Dr. Iraida Poberezhnaya will appear in a program of classical selections followed by a reception in the undercroft of the church.

 

            Dr. Poberezhnaya has performed in many venues in Europe, the Middle East and the United States.  She won the International Harp Competition in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1990, participated in the International Competition in Jerusalem in 1995 and that year took part in the USA International Competition in Bloomington, Indiana.

 

            She holds two doctoral degrees, one from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and one from the Moscow Conservatory.  Her undergraduate and masters degrees in harp are from the Azerbaijan Conservatory of Music.  She has taught in a number of institutions here and abroad and has been Organist and Director of Music at St. Luke's since 2007.

 

            Seating at the St. Luke's concert will be limited to 80 people.  Reservations may be obtained by telephoning the church at 410-268-5419 or Willis Bilderback at 410-263-1877.  A donation of $20 per person will be asked with proceeds going to the benefit of St. Luke's.
